Balance Rehabilitation Honors National Physical Therapy Month by Hosting an Educational Open House for Community6 October 2006
October is National Physical Therapy Month, and Balance Rehabilitation in Mission Viejo is joining the celebration by offering complementary balance testing, using the clinic's state-of-the-art equipment, and injury assessments, performed by the clinic's highly trained specialists. The free testing is part of a one-day educational open house hosted at Balance Rehabilitation on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 25971 Pala St., Suite 110 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., where the public is invited to learn about the benefits of using specialized physical therapy to treat neurological, vestibular, and balance-related disorders. "Our goal now is to increase awareness of the benefits of treating balance-related problems with physical therapy," said Dr. Wegener. "National Physical Therapy Month is the perfect time to educate the community about the benefits physical therapy can offer this underserved area. And, it will allow anyone suffering from possible balance problems the opportunity to speak to a therapist one-on-one." Dr. Mark Wegener, director of Balance Rehabilitation, and his team of therapists will be available to answer any questions about physical therapy and the clinic's unique multidisciplinary approach to patient care, as well as the different practice areas at Balance Rehabilitation and the revolutionary technological equipment. Many Orange County residents who suffer from balance-related problems are unaware of the benefits physical therapy can offer. Upon recognizing this need, Dr. Wegener founded Balance Rehabilitation in 2003. Consisting of doctorate-level therapists whose collective education place the clinic in the top one percent of all physical therapy clinics in the nation, as well as the best equipment available for assessment and treatment, the clinic has successfully taken vestibular and balance-related physical therapy services to the next level. The therapists at Balance Rehabilitation embrace a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, focusing on the whole person instead of just the problem. Because of the nature of neurological, vestibular and balance-related disorders, patients often require care in other practice areas, such as occupational therapy and psychotherapy. The "one-stop" treatment center provides convenience not only for patients, but also for therapists, allowing them to work in teams and achieve a higher level of care for patients. With physical therapists certified in strength and conditioning training and Pilates, the center also provides orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation, whether due to an injury or surgical procedure. "I invite anyone interested in any aspect of physical therapy to visit us on Oct. 21," said Dr. Wegener. "As one of only a handful of neurological and balance-focused outpatient clinics in Orange County, we want to educate the community about how our cutting edge physical therapy techniques, sophisticated machinery and knowledgeable staff help facilitate the targeted needs of our patients." All attendees will be entered in drawings for door prizes taking place throughout the day. Prizes include an iPod, massage therapy sessions, Pilates training and various gift certificates from local vendors. A variety of wholesome refreshments also will be served.
