BAXTER BRINGS AUTOMATIC MP3/WMA RIPPING, PC BACK UP, CD/DVD DUPLICATION TO THE DESKTOP21 August 2005
CD-writer.com Ltd in conjunction with MF Digital is creating a new product segment in the CD/DVD duplication system industry MF Digital has introduced Baxter, the first truly multi-functional desktop assistant. Incorporating the software normally found in MF Digital’s industrial grade CD/DVD duplication systems in to a small desktop device, Baxter offers a multitude of unique duplication and storage applications at the touch of a key.
Features now embedded in MF Digital’s Scribe PC software empower Baxter to accomplish audio/video/data duplication, PC hard-disk back-up, MP3/WMA ripping as well as image archiving. All are facilitated through the desktop device which is actually only slightly larger than a phone. With a CD and DVD combination drive, Baxter provides automatic, hands-free 25-disc capacity duplication, offering CD write speeds of 40X, and 16X for DVD. Whatsmore, with Baxter’s Software Development Kit (SDK), a user can write their own applications to fully integrate the unit with their business operations.
Weighing only 3.2 Kg, and measuring only 40cm deep, 23cm wide and 20cm high, Baxter puts multi-functionality duplication and storage right on a user’s desktop, bringing formally only larger system capabilities to a much wider market. The compact device simply connects to a PC through a USB port and its own power cable.
“Baxter represents a turning point in the way we perceive, use and process data. The concept of a disc duplicator has been around for many years but now the definition has been turned on its head. By integrating a number of applications and bundling a development toolkit, Baxter is a world away from the traditional duplicator. This unique PC attached device will allow you to perform disc spanning hard drive backups, and MP3/WMA batch ripping of audio CDs,” according to Nic Ranshaw, Sales Manager of CD-writer.com Ltd.
“With its compact size and versatile application this product really has the potential to change the market. I expect this to be a favourite with small businesses who need the power and convenience of an automated solution. It certainly offers a viable alternative to traditional tower copiers, in situations where production requirements are lower and output speed is not a factor,” says Ranshaw.
