Cobra Digital(R) Packs Advanced Features, Affordable Pricing Into Two New Still Cameras

28 February 2006

Rosen Plaza Hotel -- Cobra Digital(R), makers of affordable digital imaging products, today announced its two newest multi-purpose digital still cameras, the DMC300 and the DC5500, during the PMA 2006 International Trade Show and Convention in Orlando, Florida. The DMC300, hardly larger than a pack of chewing gum, offers a unique combination of mini-digital camera, audio recorder, thumb drive and PC camera, while the DC5500 breaks new ground in feature-rich affordability by giving users a still camera/PC camera/camcorder combination along with a 4X digital zoom and 5.0 megapixel resolution.

"These two exciting new cameras, while meeting very different customer needs, are both innovators in their categories," said Bill Pearson, president of Cobra Digital. "The DMC300 is the most compact, versatile and affordable digital camera of its kind, while the DC5500 provides exceptional picture quality and great user features at a very low price. Both cameras are sure to attract attention in any retail lineup."

Tiny, Versatile

Cobra Digital's Model DMC300 gives road warriors, students, and business people incredible imaging/recording/storage capabilities in one handy, ultra- small unit. The 4-in-1 camera features a 300-pixel CMOS sensor with 3.9MM F2.7 lens in a package just 3.25"H x 1.25"W x 0.25"D. The device records AVI or WMA audio onto its 6MB internal memory and can hold up to 700 photos if desired.

Despite its small size, the DMC300 has convenient digital features including 1/8 to 1/30 shutter speed, auto shutdown/exposure/white balance functions, USB 1.1 connectivity and 10 fps (VGA) or 20 fps (QVGA) PC camera capability. The product's innovative SC memory slot accepts external memory (optional) up to 1 GB to increasing its storage as desired, while the onboard 3.7V/USB 5V rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides long-lasting power. The DMC300 is packaged with a camera strap, USB cable, user manual and related hardware.

Fully Featured

Model DC5500 gives casual photographers a menu of features unique at its price point. Starting with a 2048 x 1536 pixel CMOS sensor, the DC5500 adds a 1.5" color TFT display, auto flash, and choice of 5.0/3.1/2.1 megapixel or VGA output resolution. Its 4X continuous digital zoom lens (F3.5 to F8.0) allows users to perfectly compose any kind of shot; what's more, the 1/4- to 1/1000- second shutter range supports a full range of exposures. A 10-second self- timer is included.

The DC5500 also provides multi-function versatility through its camcorder and PC camera options. In video mode, the unit captures short AVI clips in full color and with sound. As a PC camera, the DC5500 delivers 25 frames per second at 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 pixel resolution.

Cobra Digital's DC5500 uses two AAA alkaline (included) or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries (not included) and comes with a user manual, software, USB cable, and wrist strap.
