CommandGlobal Selects Compellent SAN as Foundation for Data Archival and Recovery14 January 2005
Compellent Technologies, a provider of modular, affordable storage solutions distributed exclusively through a select national network of business partners, today announced CommandGlobal Inc., a leading, Dallas-based business continuity and information security services provider, has selected Compellent's Storage Center storage area network (SAN) as the underlying technology for a new data archival and recovery service. "With Storage Center we can cost-effectively grow our new data archival and recovery service without adding additional administrative staff," said Roman Maddox, system administrator for CommandGlobal.
Built on top of the Compellent SAN, CommandGlobal's Data Vaulting(TM) service is a completely automated, professionally managed service that duplicates server data and archives it in a secure, offsite data center ensuring that critical business information is available for immediate recovery. Compellent's Storage Center is a modular SAN that enables any business to purchase significantly less storage, recover from data hazards within minutes, scale to any capacity across any technology, and manage its storage without adding staff.
"Our customers are demanding simple, cost-effective solutions to reliably archive and recover data," said Stefan Pryor, chief executive officer of CommandGlobal. "By using Storage Center we are able to provide small- and medium-sized businesses with a safety net to rapidly recover from data crises."
Aegis, a regional data storage consulting firm and Compellent business partner, worked with CommandGlobal to select and install the Compellent SAN. "Storage Center's advanced features and simplified administration will help CommandGlobal meet growing customer demand for this valuable data archival and recovery service," said Mike Brazleton, vice president of business development for Aegis Consulting.
Speeding Data Recovery
Archiving data to a remote site has traditionally taken place with magnetic tape media - a scenario that frequently causes the data recovery process to last several days. The disk backup technology used in Storage Center allows for data recovery in minutes or hours instead of days. As business users increasingly expect 24x7, uninterrupted access to email and file services, systems administrators are replicating their critical business data to disk-based storage at a remote site, which can be quickly and automatically brought online in case of a failure at the main site. Storage Center gives administrators the unlimited expansion and flexibility they need to configure and maintain disk-based storage.
About Storage Center
Storage Center builds on its Dynamic Block Architecture(TM) to deliver a scalable, open-systems hardware platform allowing businesses to mix and match any number of drives, controllers and enclosures; an integrated foundation of core storage capabilities providing functionality previously available only in high-end systems; a powerful suite of software applications optimizing utilization, automating replication and speeding data recovery; and a single, intuitive, centralized management interface streamlining all storage administration.
