CommandGlobal Selects Compellent SAN as Foundation for Data Archival and Recovery

Compellent Technologies, a provider of modular, affordable storage solutions distributed exclusively through a select national network of business partners, today announced CommandGlobal Inc., a leading, Dallas-based business continuity and information security services provider, has selected Compellent's Storage Center storage area network (SAN) as the underlying technology for a new data archival and recovery service.

Built on top of the Compellent SAN, CommandGlobal's Data Vaulting(TM) service is a completely automated, professionally managed service that duplicates server data and archives it in a secure, offsite data center ensuring that critical business information is available for immediate recovery. Archiving data to a remote site has traditionally taken place with magnetic tape media - a scenario that frequently causes the data recovery process to last several days. The disk backup technology used in Storage Center allows for data recovery in minutes or hours instead of days. As business users increasingly expect 24x7, uninterrupted access to email and file services, systems administrators are replicating their critical business data to disk-based storage at a remote site, which can be quickly and automatically brought online in case of a failure at the main site.
