Computer Associates Becomes StorageNetworking.org Initiative Founding Sponsor

The Information Storage Industry Center (ISIC) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) announced today that Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE:CA), one of the world's largest management software companies, is a Founding Sponsor of the ISIC's StorageNetworking.org Initiative.

StorageNetworking.org is a university-based, non-profit initiative whose mission is to address the educational needs of data storage technology users. The initiative is currently stimulating the creation of local and regional storage networking user groups (or SNUGs), so that data management professionals can exchange information with their peers and other knowledge experts. The initiative also manages an online resource portal to provide access to industry-specific educational opportunities and advocates the expansion of university-based educational offerings focused on data storage topics.

"To successfully manage constantly expanding volumes of data in a way that fulfills their business needs and regulatory requirements, today's organizations need in-depth knowledge about storage management best practices and technology," said Jim Geronaitis, vice president of BrightStor storage management at CA and SNIA board member. "We are pleased to support the StorageNetworking.org Initiative in its mission to aggressively develop this critical knowledge and make it available to the IT community."

The ISIC is one of 22 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Industry Centers at 15 leading universities across the country. The StorageNetworking.org Initiative is funded through foundation grants and charitable gifts to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Current sponsors include Computer Associates, the Alfred P.
