COPAN Systems Achieves Oracle(R) Secure Backup Certification20 July 2006
COPAN Systems, the leader in intelligent, enterprise-class enhanced MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) storage solutions, today announced that the company's Revolution 220T and Revolution 220TX products have achieved certification with Oracle(R) Secure Backup software. Certification allows COPAN Systems and Oracle customers to backup and recover their database files through a combination of Oracle Secure Backup and COPAN Systems Revolution storage systems built on an enhanced MAID platform. COPAN is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
This combined solution utilizes a purpose-built disk platform specifically tailored to manage and store databases. By integrating database administration with backup and recovery management capabilities, the COPAN and Oracle Secure Backup solution lets customers manage their databases from a single console, offering superior database protection, reliability, scalability and security. Backups can be managed on reliable disk arrays, which is a significant advantage over existing tape technologies.

Oracle Secure Backup provides the authentication, access control, encryption and verification features needed to store databases on tape images. The combined solution now lets customers backup to an emulated tape library on COPAN Systems Revolution 220T and 220TX, both utilizing enhanced MAID technology. As customers execute backups to COPAN Systems' emulated tape device, an entire RAID group becomes active for the streaming data. This design delivers fast disk array performance, with the Revolution 220TX able to achieve 5.2 TB/hr. in sustained performance.
