Darren Dreger joins TSN16 July 2006
TSN today announced the addition of Darren Dreger as the network's Hockey Insider alongside Bob McKenzie, complementing an already stellar NHL broadcast team. Dreger, a 19-year veteran sportscaster, begins July 31. He is the latest addition to the TSN family, following recent announcements of new hires Brian Williams and James Cybulski.
"Darren is an established hockey expert with an abundance of contacts throughout the hockey world," said Phil King, President, TSN. "Hockey generates news and breaking stories 12 months a year. Fans want immediate access to information and to be as close to the game as possible. Our viewers are best served having two experienced Hockey Insiders, as TSN continues to be the source for hockey news and information."
Dreger will contribute to TSN's all-encompassing NHL and International hockey coverage, appearing in-studio on game broadcasts. Dreger will break news, file stories that take viewers inside the game, and be part of panel discussions and debates. Dreger will also appear on SportsCentre and Molson That's Hockey, and contribute regularly to TSN.ca.

Dreger's lengthy hockey broadcast experience includes hosting Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs games, hosting NHL pre-game shows, game analysis for the IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship, and on-site hockey reporter at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin.
As part of the NHL on TSN crew, Dreger joins the most informative and entertaining NHL broadcast team with a lineup of hosts, analysts and announcers covering the game from every angle. Dreger will work alongside fellow Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, host James Duthie, analysts Glenn Healy and Dave Hodge, game announcers Gord Miller, Chris Cuthbert and Pierre McGuire, and That's Hockey host Gino Reda.

Dreger is no stranger to the CTV Inc. family having worked at CTV Winnipeg from 1993 to 1997 as a sports anchor and hockey reporter. Born in Red Deer, Alta., Dreger grew up in Saskatchewan and broke into the broadcast industry in 1987 at CJGX Radio in Yorkton, Sask.
