Datacard Group Introduces New High Speed Programming for High Memory Capacity Smart Card Personalization; New Smart Card Personalization System Enhanc

Datacard Group today launched an advanced version of its Datacard(R) MPR5000 card production and personalization system that supports high memory capacity card technology, which is rapidly growing in popularity with GSM card issuers. This latest system release is designed to produce and personalize a variety of high memory capacity smart card formats at speeds of up to 5,000 cards per hour.

The enhanced Datacard MPR5000 system offers high speed, low cost production and secure personalization of MegaSIM(TM) cards and other smart cards integrating high capacity Flash Memory, and supports high speed MMC (Multi Media Card) and USB protocols, as well as traditional ISO smart card protocols.

"To mass issue these cards, large quantities of personalized data must be loaded in just a few seconds," said Jean-Louis Meyer, manager of marketing and sales support for Datacard Group. "The MPR5000 system integrates new software, embedded electronics and chip encoding modules that support more than 100 megabits/second data transfer--all at speeds of up to 5,000 cards per hour."

The system's all-in-one, modular design produces superior quality, high memory capacity cards starting with blank plastic cards. It can accommodate more than 100 chip encoding heads, protecting issuers' initial investments as their needs expand and grow.
