Delaney Luh: Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts' Next Rising Star

24 January 2006

Santa Clarita is full of stars. Whether it's the celebrities filming locally or the rising stars who are starting to dip their feet into the Hollywood pool, our Valley's ideal location, family atmosphere and picturesqe neighborhoods make it the perfect spot for filming and family life. Delany Luh and her father Danny are taking advantage of this and have recently started working on the young starlet's career.

Driven towards acting from an early age, Delany, a pretty and charismatic girl, has the spark it takes to turn an amateur into a star. But it wasn't until she joined Santa Clarita Performing Arts (SCSOPA) that she gained the training and skills needed to make it big.

"Delany's been wanting to act for some time now, but I, like a lot of other parents, didn't know what to do. We would go to the mall and people would try to recruit her but I didn't get a good vibe. When I inquired at Santa Clarita Performing Arts, I liked what I saw,"stated Danny.

Since enrollment in April 2005, Delany has attended eight auditions and landed herself a national Black & Decker commercial, which is currently airing. "I was amazed and kind of shocked when I saw myself on TV for the first time, I looke different than my normal self." she exclaimed. One would expect this young girl to have a reaction, what one wouldn't expect is the level of maturity and professionalism she puts into her craft. "This experience has given her so much confidence and spirit, it is preparing her for whatever she wants to do later in life," said Danny.

But Delany is already doing what she wants to do as an adult, and with the ambitions to be as famous as Oprah Winfrey she'll need all that training she's currently receiving. She'll also need a major commitment from her father, who is more than happy to put in the time. "I'm there at all of her auditions and I'm a single dad so it's hard for me. Parents have be commited or else it won't work out." stated Danny. To which his daughter added, "My Dad is always helping me. He takes off work and drives me around on his good days, and on his bad days other than being overdramatic he's a great guy!" Danny himself has also started taking classes at SCSOPA and has gone on a few auditions himself.

SCSOPA offers professional training in a relaxed atmosphere from some of the best in the business. Students are taught vital lessons in acting and the school eliminates the need to make the grueling drive to LA for classes and interviews by having agents come to their students. Owner Mike Josten also recently developed Artist Development inc., a program for musical talent and a recording studio with dual Pro-Tools and Logic. Josten has been in the entertainment industry since the early 80's which has allowed him to not only become familiar with not only the acting side of the business, but the production side as well. This has provided him with a vast array of contacts and great connections.

"If you want a career in the only place you can go is Santa Clarita Performing Arts, they give you the whole package - training and access", said Danny. Delany encourages everyone to check out the school, claiming they are "awesome". Whatever way you word it, one things for sure - SCSOPA has the people and connections needed to make your child a star.
