Hitachi Expands Reach for Hard Drives with ASI Corp. as New Distributor in North America18 October 2005
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with ASI Corp., a leading distributor of computer components and peripheral products in North America. The new agreement will enable Hitachi to further extend the distribution of its industry-leading hard disk drive product line to value-added resellers (VARs) and System Integrators (SIs) in North America.
"Hitachi's relationship with ASI and its strong reseller and system integration network will help us achieve a broader depth within the channel," said George Silva, vice president of sales, North America, Hitachi GST. ASI has been servicing resellers for more than 18 years and currently serves more than 18,000 VARs throughout North America. As part of the agreement, ASI will distribute Hitachi's complete hard drive portfolio, which ranges from one-inch Microdrive digital media for portable consumer electronic devices to the 3.5-inch Ultrastar drives for enterprise applications.
