Iomega Introduces Innovative New 4 Gigabyte and 8 Gigabyte Micro Mini Hard Drives With Drop Shock Technology

11 November 2005

Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM) , a global leader in data storage celebrating 25 years of business, today announced the new Iomega(R) Micro Mini(TM) Hard Drive in 4GB* and 8GB capacities. Designed with drop shock technology to handle the inevitable bumps and dings of portable use, the robust new Iomega Micro Mini Hard Drive brings economical high capacity, outstanding portability and a new alternative to Flash-based drives for mobile professionals and Internet enthusiasts.

Ideal Travel Companion

The Iomega Micro Mini Hard Drive is a Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) device that weighs less than 50 grams (1.75 ounces) and has a smaller footprint than a credit card. Its 4200-RPM hard drive, protected by drop shock technology, delivers high performance in even the toughest travel environments, making it an ideal travel companion for the mobile professional.

A fold-away USB connector is built into the Micro Mini Hard Drive's alloy case, eliminating the need for a separate USB cable. Power comes directly from the computer's USB 2.0 port -- no separate power adapter required. And because it is a Plug and Play device, the Iomega Micro Mini Hard Drive goes to work right away whenever it is connected to a compatible PC (see compatibility list below).

"The new Iomega Micro Mini Hard Drive delivers on the promise of higher capacity and convenient portable storage," said Brian Still, Manager of Product and Channel Marketing, Iomega Corporation. "The new Micro Mini Hard Drive is smaller than other external hard drives, provides more capability and a better price per gigabyte than Flash memory devices, and it comes with an excellent software collection for easy backup and disaster recovery."

Included Software

Iomega(R) Automatic Backup Pro (IAB Pro) software gives users the choice of continuous real-time backup or easy scheduled backups. Users can save multiple file revisions, password-protect backups with AES file encryption, and make each storage dollar go farther with up to 2.6:1 file compression** on typical uncompressed office documents. IAB Pro also provides full-system backup from within Windows.

Easy, High Capacity Mobile Storage

Whatever the file type -- photos, music, video files, PowerPoint presentations, office documents, Internet downloads -- the Micro Mini Hard Drive delivers the high performance users want without the clutter of extra cables and connectors. Hardware features include:

* 4200 RPM hard drive with 2 MB cache
* 4GB and 8GB capacities
* Integrated USB connector folds away into case
* 50 grams (1.75 oz.) weight
* Smaller than a credit card (69.9x51x14.2 mm, or 2.75x2.01x0.56 inches)

* Host-powered
* Drop shock technology for protection from drops and bumps
* Sleek, durable design with alloy case

Compatibility and Requirements
