KAGes Diagnose FalconStor as Storage Treatment27 January 2005
IPStor Software Chosen by Styrian Regional Hospitals for Centralized Storage Management, Scalability and High Data Availability
FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced that the Styrian Hospitals Authority Ltd. (KAGes), has implemented FalconStor's IPStor(R) Enterprise Edition software for centralized storage management and scalability, as well as essential data replication to a secondary site for disaster recovery purposes in the field of office automation and desktop services.
KAGes' staff of about 15,000 across their 20 regional hospitals and one nursing home treats about 250,000 inpatients and 600,000 outpatients annually. In their task to be economically and environmentally aware, and achieve organizational efficiency, KAGes established a central contact point for patients' complaints, as well as an advisory committee on quality assurance, with regular conferences to ensure a steady improvement in quality in the Styrian Hospitals.
KAGes' IT environment impacts the organization's ability to provide quality care, and with their data growing at a yearly rate of 20%, KAGes wanted a storage solution providing storage consolidation, high availability, and accelerated backup and recovery. LB-systems, a leading solutions integrator, worked with KAGes on evaluating the available solutions and ultimately chose IPStor, which more than satisfied the organization's IT requirements. The IPStor SAN is mainly only used for main office applications, including Microsoft Exchange and SQL, and for the file services of KAGes.
"In service to our community, KAGes implements the best of modern technology to serve our broad community with innovative, high quality health services, with resulting data that needs to be protected and well managed," said Karl Kocever, Chief of the IT-Enterprise, of KAGes. "FalconStor's IPStor enables us to ensure that our critical medical systems provide cost-effective, continuous and incredibly high-speed access to data."
At KAGes, IPStor servers are configured in an active-active failover mode at the primary data center for high availability, with DynaPath(R) agents to further ensure data availability by creating parallel active storage paths that transparently reroute server traffic without interruption, in the event of a storage network problem.
