Kodak Reports Brisk Sales for its RIS/PACS Suite14 February 2005
Eastman Kodak Company reports strong demand for its integrated RIS/PACS suite, which recently became available in the United States, and for its KODAK DIRECTVIEW PACS System 5. Kodak announced today that it has signed contracts with more than 70 U.S. facilities for its radiology information system ( RIS ) and picture archiving and communications system ( PACS ) solutions.
Many customers have also purchased Professional Services from Kodak for network design and implementation, data migration and business continuity services as well as centralized, intelligent management of distributed healthcare information associated with a wide variety of clinical and back-office applications.
“Kodak’s powerful RIS/PACS suite is very well received by healthcare providers of all types, from small imaging centers to large hospital systems. It offers features that enhance radiologists’ productivity while simultaneously boosting the efficiency of back office applications such as transcription, reporting and patient billing,” said Michael W. Jackman, General Manager of Healthcare Information Systems and Vice President, Kodak Health Group.
The following facilities recently purchased KODAK image and information management systems:
Rochelle Community Hospital, Rochelle, Ill., purchased a KODAK DIRECTVIEW PACS System 5, KODAK computed radiography ( CR ) systems and a KODAK Enterprise Information Management ( EIM ) Solution. Kodak’s EIM offering is part of its information management portfolio of solutions that utilize the KODAK Versatile Intelligent Patient Archive ( VIParchive ) software platform—which also powers the PACS System 5 archive—to provide intelligent management of all types of images and information that exist throughout a healthcare system.
West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Sulphur, La., purchased Kodak’s RIS/PACS suite, with KODAK Healthcare Network Services providing the design and implementation of a supporting network. The hospital also purchased KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 850 and CR 950 systems to provide efficient digital capture for general radiology procedures.
St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., purchased a KODAK RIS 2010, along with KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 9000 and DR 7100 digital radiography systems and a KODAK computed radiography system for rapid, high-quality digital image capture. The hospital also purchased a KODAK DRYVIEW 8900 Laser Imaging System for high-resolution output of digital images onto radiographic film.
Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo., purchased a KODAK PACS System 5 and added new KODAK CR systems and a KODAK DRYVIEW 8900 Laser Imaging System to complete its digital conversion. The hospital also purchased Data Migration services from Kodak to securely move data from its existing archive to a new archive.
Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, Okla., ordered a
KODAK PACS System 5 and KODAK CR 850/950 systems. This digital imaging solution will enable this small rural hospital with a solo radiologist to provide teleradiology services to smaller outlying hospitals and enhanced regional access to images.
Borg Imaging, Rochester, N.Y., purchased Kodak’s RIS/PACS suite along with Data Migration services from Kodak to efficiently move images and information from an outdated storage system to a new archive.
RIS/PACS is Fully Integrated Solution
Kodak’s RIS/PACS suite is a fully integrated solution that can streamline, optimize, and Web-enable all the functions associated with today’s modern radiology departments. Kodak’s RIS/PACS suite automates the various elements of the diagnostic process: exam requesting/ordering and scheduling, diagnostic reading/dictation, transcription, reporting, results distribution and billing. A synchronized desktop enables highly efficient diagnostic reporting and clinical review and facilitates easy storage and retrieval of a patient’s entire radiology record. The suite also includes a unique approach to archiving through the inclusion of Kodak’s VIParchive software platform that enables a wide variety of information management options for customers.
Kodak’s RIS/PACS suite offers exceptional flexibility and an open architecture that interfaces easily with other information systems, along with an intuitive operator interface and integrated speech recognition. The RIS/PACS suite can dramatically improve radiologists’ productivity by delivering industry-leading features, such as integral 3D imaging that expedites the reading of imaging studies. The RIS/PACS suite also supports a variety of information distribution options to referring physicians including CD, Web, and secure email.
