Maxtor Enterprise Drives Top Storagereview.com Leaderboard Charts

11 February 2005

Maxtor Corporation (NYSE: MXO) announced today that its Atlas® 15K II and Atlas 10K V enterprise hard drives joined its MaXLine™ III drive as best-in-class hard drives on StorageReview.com's LeaderBoard, in their respective categories. The independent testing site awarded the Atlas 15K II drive top honors in the Server-Performance category and the Atlas 10K V drive the top position in the Server-Capacity category. The Atlas 15K II drive also received the distinction of being named by Storage Review.com the World's Fastest Hard Drive.

"The Atlas 15K II is the only drive, of the current SCSI wave now entering the channel, that actually delivers across-the-board performance improvements over the scores turned in by its prior generation," said Eugene Ra, editor of StorageReview.com. "It sets new records against competing drives for read access time and data transfer rates and raises the bar when it comes to server performance (IO per seconds). The Atlas 10K V sets new records for measured transfer rates in the Server-Capacity category and maintains the speedy random access performance that has been the hallmark of the Atlas line."

The Atlas 15K II drive scored the highest against all other drives tested by StorageReview.com on the SR File Server DriveMark 2002, which models the heavy random access that a dedicated file server experiences, and dominated the SR Web Server DriveMark 2002 benchmark, which simulates typical Web server activity. In the Server-Capacity category, the Atlas 10K V drive beat out its competitors in a number of performance tests and set new records on the SR Office DriveMark 2002 and SR High-End DriveMark 2002 benchmarks.

"Maxtor is honored that its MaXLine and Atlas drives are recognized by StorageReview.com as best in class because it is a testament to the product quality and leading technology built into these drives," said Brendan Collins, vice president of product marketing at Maxtor. "Taking top marks in StorageReview.com's testing speaks highly of the work we've put into developing products that meet and exceed the performance requirements demanded by today's enterprise applications." In the forth quarter of 2004, StorageReview.com placed the Maxtor MaXLine III drive on the LeaderBoard in the Desktop Category, which tested the drive against other ATA drives.
