Next Inning Technology Research Comments on Intel Advanced Micro Devices and Silicon

22 December 2004

Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com), a service focused on semiconductor and technology stocks, announced today that it has provided to members updated outlooks for key chip stocks including: Intel (Nasdaq: INTC - News), Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD - News), and Silicon Storage Technology (Nasdaq: SSTI - News).
Earlier this afternoon Next Inning Editor Paul McWilliams commented on Lehman's upgrade of Intel.

"As we noted on October 14th, under the current conditions, we currently prefer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) over INTC in the processor space. In October, we suggested that members evaluate a hedge play by going long AMD and short INTC."

In his commentary McWilliams looks at the following topics:

-- Why he is still "not excited" about Intel at its current price and why
he still prefers AMD as his processor play.

-- Why he still believes there are opportunities for AMD.

McWilliams also commented on Silicon Storage's pre-earnings warning, telling subscribers, "Not surprisingly, even facing a 20% shortfall in revenues, SSTI clearly stated shipment volume would be sequentially up by about 10% in Q4. While management blames their revenue woes on both inventory and competition, we're reluctant to buy into the former."

McWilliams comments on the following topics:

-- What he thinks is the real reason for SSTI's shortfall.

-- Thoughts on the recent analyst downgrades and his outlook for SSTI.
