PNY Technologies and Netcell Partner to Provide Storage Adapter Cards with Automatic Data Protection3 August 2005
PNY Technologies, Inc. announced today that it is partnering with Netcell Corporation to sell storage accelerator cards, which provide workstation and PC users with enterprise-class data protection and easy to install data storage. Powered by Netcell's Revolution Storage Processing Unit (SPU), PNY Technologies' new storage accelerator product line is ideal for workstation system integrators, digital content creators, small-to-medium sized businesses, PC enthusiasts and home users.
Windows users will benefit from a completely driverless design that provides true plug-and-play simplicity--meaning no complex driver installs. PNY's SATA Storage Processor Card frees up the user's system to perform other tasks; continuously protects valuable data and retrieves files to use in advance of requests. Plus, the card allows users to mix and match multiple HDD configurations and brands. Moreover, it supports RAID Level 0, 1, 3, and JBOD functionality for video-broadcast class data protection at a consumer-level retail price. The product's innovative RAID 3 capability combines the performance of RAID 0 with the protection of RAID 5.
"PNY has been providing innovative computer products for 20 years--from memory modules to professional and consumer graphics cards, flash media, USB flash drives and MP3 players," said Marca Armstrong, senior marketing manager PC products for PNY Technologies. "The addition of our storage accelerator product line is an ideal complement to our growing product portfolio and solidifies PNY's position as a one-stop-shop hardware provider. As we partner with companies such as Netcell, PNY will extend our reach to offer unique solutions that continue to push the technology envelope and support home and office needs."
"As one of the leading providers of products to the North American computing market, PNY is uniquely positioned to bring Netcell Revolution storage processors to those requiring increased storage capacity, protection and performance," said Bobby Sabhlok, vice president of sales for Netcell Corporation. "Not only are PNY SATA Storage Processor Cards easy to install, they provide peace of mind against drive failure, and if a drive should fail, it will allow users to continue running at full performance, even during a drive rebuild."
PNY's new storage accelerator cards are equipped with 64MB SDRAM, 32-bit PCI 2.2 for Windows. A 3-port and 5-port card will be available from PNY in Q4 2005 for an MSRP of $199 and $259, respectively.
