Ports Hope to Find Their Way Against San Jose30 May 2006
The Stockton Ports will finally get the taste of some home cooking at Banner Island Ballpark after their eight game road trip ended Sunday in Rancho Cucamonga. The Ports left Southern California on a high note as they avoided a series sweep by defeating the Quakes by a final score of 7-5 at "The Epicenter." Righty Michael Rogers was solid in six full innings as he gave up just two earned runs and struck out four to capture his fifth win of '06. The Ports finished the road trip with a record of 5-3 and are now in sole possession of third place in the Cal League North at 23-26. The defending champion San Jose Giants come to "The BIB" with a five-game lead atop the North Division after posting a league-best record of 31-19. The Giants snapped a three-game losing skid on Memorial Day as they defeated the second place Modesto Nuts by a final of 2-1 in 11 grueling innings. The Giants have lost six of their last ten games.
