Procom Doubles Storage Capacity of Midrange NetFORCE 1800 NAS Filer

Procom Technology, Inc. ( OTC: PRCM ), a value leader in enterprise-class network attached storage ( NAS ) solutions, announced today that its midrange NetFORCE 1800 NAS filer is now available with 300-gigabyte high-performance disk drives that more than double its raw storage capacity to 12.9 terabytes. A 9.3TB configuration was recently implemented by a Fortune 100 customer, and existing customers can have their units field-upgraded.

The availability of 300GB disk drives improves the NF1800 storage density -- already one of the highest in the industry -- to 1.17TB per U ( 1.75 inches of rack space ). The system requires only 2U of rack space for the filer head and just 3U for each additional JBOD; fully configured, the NF1800 occupies only 11U and supports up to 43 drives. The new drives are designed for full-duty-cycle applications, remaining highly reliable even when operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
