Sabercats to host American conference championship game31 May 2006
SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 28, 2006) - The San Jose SaberCats will host the Chicago Rush in the Arena Football League's American Conference Championship game on Saturday, June 3 at 12:00 p.m. in HP Pavilion at San Jose. The 2006 Western Division Champion SaberCats advanced to the Conference title game with a 62-48 win over Arizona on Saturday. The fifth-seeded Rush upset the top-seeded Colorado Crush, 63-46, on Sunday to advance to the Conference Championship game for a second straight season. The Dallas Desperados will host the Orlando Predators in the National Conference Championship game on Sunday, June 4. The winners of the Conference Championship games will meet in ArenaBowl XX on Sunday, June 11, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The SaberCats defeated Chicago in the league semifinals in 2004 and won their second Arena Football League title that year with a 69-62 defeat of Arizona in ArenaBowl XVIII. The Rush beat San Jose in a regular season game earlier this season, 56-48, in overtime on Feb. 26 in Allstate Arena. The SaberCats have won four of the six all-time meetings between the clubs. Tickets for the American Conference Championship game will go on sale Monday, May 29, and can be purchased through any Northern California Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.com or at the HP Pavilion box office.
