Toshiba Offers Free Software Utility from MyConnect Nationwide Internet Service22 January 2005
Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products, today announced the debut of a free MyConnect(TM) software utility to simplify Internet connectivity at home, the office and public access sites. The utility enables a notebook PC to automatically detect available wireless networks and offers a simple one-click process to connect to the Internet from a wireless access point or Ethernet line.
The free MyConnect software utility download is available at http://www.toshibamyconnect.com/signup.
Also, when users find public Internet connections requiring payment, they can view a location directory of the thousands of MyConnect Wi-Fi or Ethernet locations throughout the country and choose to connect via a 14-day free trial offer of a MyConnect Internet Access Service Plan.
The MyConnect Internet Access Service provides notebook computer users(a) unlimited Internet access via Wi-Fi, broadband cable, DSL or dial-up connection for $39.95 a month or $99.95 for a three-month subscription plan. It replaces the need to make several payments for Internet access in public places with one low monthly price.
"The MyConnect software utility allows users to simply and easily connect to their preferred network at work or at home, in addition to providing them access to the MyConnect preferred network of more than 21,000 access points with a subscription plan," said Raja Narayanan, vice president of mobility solutions for Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems.
